About the Role:

Holcim US is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team at the Newington plant in Lorton, Virginia. As a member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed mechanical equipment. You will ensure that our equipment is running smoothly and efficiently, performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to prevent breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general overhaul and repair work on gasoline, diesel, and propane powered engines, including automobiles, trucks, and other automotive and mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary units and parts, including cooling, fuel, and exhaust components.
  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance work on vehicles, including lubrication and oil changes.
  • Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems; tune engines using standard testing equipment.
  • Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary units and related parts, including valves, hoses, belts, and alternators.
  • May fabricate and modify parts and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience performing the functions listed above in a construction, building materials, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Mechanical skills, physical strength, practical skills, problem-solving orientation, and customer service abilities.
  • Proficient in hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to prepare work estimates and quotes.
  • Experience conducting routine services and vehicle maintenance.
  • Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail.
  • Required Computer and Software Skills: Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Licenses Required: Valid Driving License.
  • Good Driving Record.
  • Welding skills highly desirable (CW, CW, CWE, or CWRT).
