About the Position

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinarian to join our team at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. As a Veterinarian, you will play a critical role in the care and well-being of the animals in our shelter, providing medical services, developing treatment plans, and ensuring the health and safety of our animals.

Responsibilities
  • Examine impounded, in-house, and fostered shelter animals to perform diagnostics, create treatment plans, prescribe therapeutics, and determine appropriate disposition for incoming animals
  • Execute spay/neuter surgeries, perform dental extractions, read and interpret radiograph studies, and perform non-witnessed, owner-requested euthanasia
  • Evaluate animals for release from bite quarantine
  • Monitor, dispense, and log, controlled substances and maintain medical records
  • Participate in biweekly onsite vaccination clinics
  • Provide training to clinic, shelter, and field staff members
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external clients
Requirements
  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine
  • Valid Arizona Veterinarian license, upon hire
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license and have an acceptable driving record by the time of hire
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certification
