Summary:

The Advanced Practice Practitioner functions as a primary care healthcare provider, providing age-appropriate care to a culturally diverse patient population.

This role supports the organizational mission of making life better for children by improving access to care, providing continuity of care, and ensuring the delivery of quality care.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct clinical care in an expanded role, guided by education, certification, licensure, clinical expertise, and Prescriptive Authority Agreement or Delegation Protocol.
  • Conducts patient history and physical examination, diagnoses and manages patient care, including ordering and prescribing medications and treatments.
  • Orders and interprets necessary diagnostic and/or therapeutic tests, consults with patients and refers them to other healthcare professionals as needed.
How You'll Be Successful:
  • At least 2 years of job-related experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in pediatrics or a related specialized area of nursing preferred.
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree, or equivalent experience in advanced professional education, to support required licensing.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • APRN: Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Texas (or current valid Compact RN license).
  • APRN: Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner, Maternal Child Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist by a national certifying body recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • PA: Current license issued by the Texas Physician Assistant Board.
  • PA: Current certificate issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
