This team collaborates with various stakeholders, including developers, architects, and organizations globally, focusing on sustainable practices and enhancing operational efficiency within the built environment.

The Built Ecology practice at WSP is dedicated to advancing sustainability in the built environment. We offer a wide array of services, such as sustainability planning, high-performance design assistance, energy and greenhouse gas master planning, and building performance verification. Our projects range from large-scale master planning to detailed building design, ensuring innovative and practical solutions that meet the highest standards of sustainability.

Your Contributions

  • Conduct in-depth energy modeling and performance analysis to meet sustainability benchmarks and certification requirements.
  • Employ energy modeling software to develop carbon reduction strategies and net-zero roadmaps.
  • Analyze climate data and building usage patterns to inform design approaches.
  • Perform daylighting and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) assessments to support high-performance design initiatives.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports outlining analysis findings and design recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure project sustainability goals are met.
  • Review architectural documentation to ensure the integration of high-performance design features.
  • Provide strategic advice on LEED certification, focusing on energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality.
  • Deliver detailed design analysis and calculations, ensuring technical excellence across architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Investigate emerging technologies applicable to the built environment, emphasizing electrification and district-scale solutions.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science.
  • 1-3 years of experience in energy modeling for high-performance projects and building certifications.
  • Proficient in interpreting architectural and engineering plans.
  • Familiarity with energy codes and standards, including IECC and ASHRAE.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems and their components.
  • Experience with energy modeling tools such as IES-VE, OpenStudio, or EnergyPlus.
  • LEED Green Associate certification.

Preferred:

  • Certification as a Building Energy Modeling Professional.
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect credentials.
  • LEED Accredited Professional status.
  • Experience with advanced energy modeling techniques and district energy systems.
  • Knowledge of building performance standards focused on energy efficiency.
  • Familiarity with building physics in specialized environments such as data centers and laboratories.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Python, or tools like Rhino and Grasshopper.
