Position Overview:

The successful Equipment Maintenance Technician will support greenhouse staff by executing preventative maintenance and skilled repairs on intricate production machinery and systems (including mechanical, plumbing, and electrical components). The technician will also engage with suppliers and vendors to acquire the necessary materials and/or contractors to complete maintenance projects within the allocated budget. Key responsibilities encompass ensuring all tasks are performed in compliance with safety policies and regulations, as well as legal standards regarding workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and propose equipment enhancements to boost efficiency, capability, and yield.
  • Conduct equipment failure analyses (including both preventative and unplanned maintenance).
  • Execute daily repair work orders, troubleshoot, and diagnose equipment issues.
  • Compile technical reports to document equipment modifications and maintenance procedures.
  • Organize the maintenance workshop, maintaining an inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of junior technicians.
  • Monitor the physical condition of the property and promptly rectify unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding preventative maintenance, service requests (both received and completed), expenditures, and the status of ongoing work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, along with 3-5 years of relevant industry experience and/or training; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, tools, equipment, codes, and safety protocols.
  • Proficient in plumbing and electrical troubleshooting skills, with knowledge of hazardous classifications.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Valid Driver's License, clean criminal record, and drug-free status.
  • Must be in good physical condition and capable of working outdoors for extended periods.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to greenhouse conditions such as heat, cold, moisture, and dirt.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended durations.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to various changing situations.
