Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for all corrective maintenance tasks across the facility.
  • Adhere to a systematic preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Execute all assigned duties promptly as per the Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.).
  • Complete all necessary documentation related to the role (including receipts, time-off requests, etc.).
  • Acquire knowledge of all environmental systems to ensure optimal operation.
  • Identify issues during inspections and repairs, completing maintenance work orders for management review.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of tools and equipment, including any provided vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times.
  • Ensure availability of communication devices for emergencies.
  • Arrive punctually at the work site and be prepared to take breaks on-site.
  • Willingness to accept additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Comply with all company policies and safety protocols.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues and site managers to foster teamwork and safety.
  • Possess knowledge of safe operation of various power tools.
  • Efficiently manage time to complete tasks.
  • Actively participate as a member of the production team.
  • Open to constructive feedback from peers and supervisors.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and utilize safety equipment.
  • Conduct work in alignment with bio-security protocols.
  • Undertake any other duties as required.
Success Criteria:
  • Demonstrate mechanical proficiency.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be insurable.
  • Exhibit safe work practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve heating and electrical issues.
  • Understanding of pump and plumbing systems.
  • Capable of working independently on mechanical systems.
  • Experience in welding.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing methods.
  • Knowledge of environmental control systems and their operations.
  • Ability to follow instructions from manuals.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrate persistence in completing tasks.
Job Requirements:
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and sometimes assist in moving items exceeding 350 pounds.
  • Specific vision capabilities required include depth perception, focus adjustment, color discernment, and detail appreciation.
  • Capable of repetitive tasks.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
  • Responsive to verbal alerts and animal sounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods on various surfaces, including concrete.
  • Able to navigate crates and obstacles.
  • Climb ladders and enter semi-trucks.
  • Maintain balance on all surfaces.
  • Must not reside near swine or have contact with individuals who do.
  • Retain and execute both written and verbal instructions.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in maintenance roles.
Working Environment:
  • Summer temperatures may exceed 100 degrees during scheduled shifts.
  • Winter temperatures can drop below zero throughout the workday.
  • Heavy rainfall may lead to muddy and challenging conditions around the facility.
  • Noise levels in and around barns can be significantly high; hearing protection is mandatory in designated areas.
  • Daily exposure to odors, dust, and gases that may be uncomfortable or hazardous if safety protocols are not followed.
  • Daily interaction with electrical systems and machinery, which require certification for safe handling.
  • Regular exposure to hazardous materials.
