Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in preparing and processing tissue specimens for microscopic examination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and prepare surgical and autopsy tissue specimens for histological examination.
  • Perform standard histological procedures, including embedding, sectioning, staining, and cover slipping.
  • Assist pathologists with gross dissection of tissue specimens and prepare chemical reagents and solutions.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including performing quality control and preventive maintenance.
  • Participate in training and development of new laboratory procedures and research projects.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma plus two years histotechnology training or an Associate of Science degree or equivalent.
  • Registration as a Histotechnologist (HTL), Histotechnician (HT), or registry eligible through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
