Role Summary
This position requires a clinically proficient, registered nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients through a comprehensive nursing process that includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver comprehensive patient care by employing evidence-based practices that enhance patient safety and minimize the risk of medical errors.
2. Adhere to the six rights of medication administration, ensuring that medications are given according to the patient's age and clinical condition.
3. Utilize critical thinking to justify clinical decisions.
4. Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate patients' physical, psychosocial, rehabilitation, safety, learning, spiritual, cultural, age-specific, special risk, and self-care needs.
5. Identify patient care needs and integrate them into the care plan.
6. Assess patients' learning needs and barriers, while also recognizing support systems and coping mechanisms.
7. Clearly explain procedures, therapies, and treatments to patients and their families, documenting their responses to education.
8. Involve patients and families in the development of the care plan.
9. Create, implement, and update individualized care plans based on identified needs, including nursing, education, continuity of care, and discharge planning.
10. Assess and manage pain effectively, educating patients and families on pain management strategies.
11. Utilize quality improvement data to enhance nursing practices and healthcare delivery.
12. Participate in shared governance, committee work, and departmental projects.

Additional Information
ACLS certification is required within the initial period of employment. Responsibilities also include managing medication and supply inventory according to organizational policies, preparing procedural areas with necessary equipment, and monitoring patients receiving sedation or anesthesia in accordance with established protocols.
