Key Responsibilities
  • Observe and patrol designated areas to prevent and detect security breaches
  • Enforce laws and regulations to maintain order and protect against theft, vandalism, and other crimes
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to ensure security of premises
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, including equipment or property damage, theft, and unusual occurrences
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 20 Hour Basic Security Training Certificate
  • 20 Hour Armed Training Certificate
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Valid State ID
  • Permanent Employment Registration Card (PERC/Blue Card)
  • Current Sheriff ID
Additional Information

All officers hired must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be certified in the State of Illinois as evidenced by providing a copy of their 20 and/or 40 hour training certificate by a State of Illinois certified training facility
  • Provide a valid State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC)
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED
  • Undergo a complete criminal background check
  • Successfully pass a comprehensive Panel I through IV drug test
  • Possess a valid Firearms Owner Identification Card (FOID), if applicable
  • Pass a State of Illinois and Federal fingerprint background screening test
  • Qualify for an Agency Firearm Authorization Card (FAC), if applying for an Armed position
