Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Polyurethane Chemist to join our team at Urethane Polymers International. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for developing new products from concept to commercialization, enhancing and improving our current products, and serving as a technical expert to support product improvements, quality improvements, customer requests, and cost savings initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Development: Formulate new products from development to commercialization, ensuring they meet company, industry, and regulatory parameters.
  • Quality Assurance: Define new product manufacturing quality assurance requirements to ensure product quality, storage stability, and performance.
  • Project Management: Create project timelines, set milestones, and ensure on-time project completion.
  • Formulation Development: Develop specifications for new and reformulated products, and change existing formulations to improve product costs.
  • Raw Material Evaluation: Evaluate raw materials, initiate and attend technical presentations from suppliers, and create and maintain necessary research documentation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Prepare product registration documentation and product chemistry packaging to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Batch Production: Responsible for batch production from pilot scale to process validation.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical expert product support to employees and customers regarding product improvements, quality improvements, customer requests, and cost saving initiatives.
  • Special Investigations: Conduct special chemical investigations requested by the corporate office and review reports before release.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science, or materials science.
  • Intimate working knowledge of thermosetting polyurethane compounds, including testing, processing, and product development.
  • Knowledge of polyurethane adhesives, sealants, and coating formulation and testing is preferred.
  • Prior experience with acrylic and epoxy-based technology is a plus.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, with the ability to determine solutions for customers.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • The ability to learn new concepts and procedures at a rapid rate.
  • Results-oriented and able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with using computer applications and the formation of spreadsheets and files.
