Pharmacist - Patient Care Specialist

A pharmacist plays a vital role in providing patient care through the provision of direct operational and clinical services. This includes ensuring the safe and appropriate use of medications, providing drug information, and monitoring drug therapy. The pharmacist must also meet departmental staff development requirements and participate in departmental or health system committees. This position requires pharmacists to work all shifts within the department, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities- Provides accurate medication order-entry, drug distribution, and diagnostic testing services.
- Confirms the appropriateness of drug therapy for specific patient populations.
- Supervises pharmacy support personnel and verifies the accuracy of tasks performed.
- Completes pharmacy consults and provides clinical services with appropriate documentation.
- Provides experiential education training for pharmacy technicians, students, and new team members.
- Acts as liaison between pharmacy and assigned patient care area to solve distribution problems and monitor drug supplies.
- Bachelor's Degree from an ACPE-approved college of pharmacy, PharmD preferred.
- No previous experience required, but department-specific pharmacy experience is preferred.
- Licensed as Pharmacist in South Carolina or eligible to become licensed within 3 months of hire date.
- Thorough knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and others outside the department.
- Problem-solving abilities and ability to work in team situations.
