About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our anesthesia team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and set up equipment and supplies for each surgical case, ensuring that all necessary items are available and in good working order.
  • Connect monitoring lines, prepare infusion sets, and apply them to patients as needed.
  • Operate and calibrate various technical equipment used in the operating room, including physiological monitors and blood gas analyzers.
  • Assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in the preparation and administration of anesthesia, including emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and replacement schedules.
  • Identify and arrange for in-service education for the anesthesia team, working with vendors and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a monthly staffing schedule for the anesthesia team, working with the Chief of Anesthesia and OR scheduling office.
  • Oversee equipment and supply utilization, tracking trends and eliminating unnecessary or infrequently used items.
  • Organize and manage the anesthesia workroom, ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are available and in good working order.
  • Assist in positioning and supporting patients for regional anesthesia procedures, such as spinals and epidurals.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as an Anesthesia Technician or Technologist preferred.
  • Experience in the operating room and familiarity with OR supplies and hospital settings.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and asepsis, with ability to apply such skills.
