About the Role

As a Medical Laboratory Technician at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and exceptional patient experience. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing moderately complex to highly complex and specialized clinical laboratory tests/analyses using manual or automated techniques. Your work will include pretesting and processing samples, performing and evaluating quality control, and maintaining standard laboratory instrumentation and equipment.



You will be accountable for ensuring the accuracy of test results and related analyses based on adherence to established standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be essential in monitoring, controlling, and assessing test conditions, specimen quality, chemical/biologic reactions, and instrument function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform pretesting and processing samples (Pre-Analytic).
  • Evaluate and report patient results for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease for patients of all ages (Post-Analytic).
  • Perform and evaluate quality control to ensure quality patient care.
  • Maintain standard laboratory instrumentation and equipment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:


  • An Associate degree and completion of an accredited MLT/MT program OR the equivalent education and experience that qualifies for national registration through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
  • One year of clinical laboratory experience in the last five years is preferred.
  • National Registration as an MLT(ASCP)CM, MLT(ASCP) or equivalent (e.g. AMT), or registry-eligible at date of hire.
