  • Application Developers create integrated solutions that consolidate and coordinate existing applications, legacy systems, databases, web interfaces, and hardware logic to meet evolving enterprise requirements.
  • Professionals in Software Development possess a strong command of programming languages used within the organization and may have knowledge of object-oriented design, coding, and debugging practices.
  • They have experience in systems design and a solid understanding of development, database development, testing, and integration methodologies. Familiarity with current and emerging IT products, services, and processes is essential.
  • Software Engineers may work as individual contributors, team members, or technical team leaders, providing client support, consultation, and subject matter expertise for software development, maintenance, and support.

WORK COMPLEXITY:

  • Advanced Professional Level: Engages in major projects as a lead developer, offering subject matter expertise and technical guidance. Works on projects of higher complexity or risk that span a broad range of systems or technologies and may have a system-wide impact.
  • Requires expertise in multiple technical environments and an increased level of business knowledge.
  • Requires advanced understanding, implementation, and usage of specific software platforms, languages, and frameworks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical leadership in the analysis, design, development, integration, testing, and enhancement of software, applications, or middleware.
  • Actively engage in researching, troubleshooting, or resolving complex support issues.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Consulting in the project planning process with clients, business analysts, architects, and team members.
  • Monitoring project milestones and critical dates to identify potential schedule risks.
  • Identifying solutions to resolve scheduling issues and keeping management informed of project progress and status.
  • Leading the technical evaluation and selection process for software or middleware packages.
  • Supporting necessary communication and training for successful adoption of selected tools or software.
  • Providing input for buy vs. build recommendations.
  • Researching the feasibility or availability of custom, open-source, and commercial (COTS) solution alternatives.
  • Offering insights on system options, risk, cost versus benefit, and impacts on business processes and goals.
  • Collaborating with the Technology Office and architects to ensure alignment with IT long-term strategy.
  • Contributing to business cases and assisting in procurement activities for buy decisions.
  • Proactively analyzing existing applications to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements.
  • Initiating the identification, analysis, implementation, communication, and adoption of technical process improvements to benefit the team.
  • Supporting any change management necessary for implemented process improvements.

  • This position operates in a hybrid work environment; candidates may be required to report to the office on an as-needed basis.
