Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is in search of a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Same Day Surgery department. The RN will be responsible for the planning and assessment of services in the Outpatient Surgery Unit (OPSU) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), demonstrating the expertise required for delivering care to both pre-operative and post-operative ambulatory patients. The care provided will be tailored to meet the diverse age requirements of our patient population, including pediatrics, adolescents, and seniors.
As a 45-bed facility, Conemaugh Nason Medical Center serves the rural and suburban communities, emphasizing high-quality, compassionate healthcare since its inception in 1900. With advanced cardiac catheterization capabilities, we offer a variety of inpatient and outpatient cardiac services, ensuring that care is accessible when it is most critical. Our hospital operates around the clock as an accredited chest pain center, providing comprehensive emergency, imaging, diagnostic, and specialty services. Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and assess services in the OPSU/PACU in alignment with established guidelines.
• Ensure high standards of patient care are maintained consistently.
• Implement effective cost management strategies on a daily basis.
• Manage patient care in the OPSU and/or PACU with a focus on quality and safety.
• Collaborate with team members to develop, implement, and refine nursing care protocols for ambulatory surgical patients.
• Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
• Address operational matters with anesthesia providers as necessary.
• Maintain inventory of specialized supplies based on OPSU/PACU requirements.
• Engage in Performance Improvement initiatives within the OPSU and PACU.
• Review incident reports with leadership and recommend improvements.
• Conduct thorough assessments to distinguish between immediate and long-term patient needs during the peri-anesthesia phase.
• Document essential patient information, nursing actions, and responses accurately and promptly.
• Educate patients, families, and team members, and participate in preoperative assessments and education.

Qualifications:
Education:
• Graduation from an accredited RN program is required.
• A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
Licensure:
• A current nursing license in Pennsylvania or a valid multistate license is required.
Experience:
• Previous experience in Medical/Surgical nursing is preferred, but not mandatory.
• Critical Care experience in PACU is advantageous, though not required.
Skills:
• BLS Certification is mandatory.
• ACLS Certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
• Ability to thrive in a physically demanding and high-pressure environment.
• Basic computer proficiency is essential.
• Strong communication skills are necessary.
• Successful completion of orientation and probationary requirements is expected.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Competitive salary and benefits package, including 401K, PTO, and onsite occupational health services.
• A sign-on bonus of $30,000 is offered.
