Position Overview
As a key member of the CAT Underwriting team, reporting directly to the Manager of CAT Analysis, you will play a vital role in enhancing our analytics and catastrophe modeling capabilities. Your responsibilities will encompass data extraction and manipulation aimed at CAT modeling, account modeling, exposure accumulation, and technical pricing functions. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with various Pricing and Underwriting teams within Aviva, assisting in the implementation of CAT models and monitoring exposure accumulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather Statement of Values (SOV) and policy data from underwriters to conduct pre-quote account modeling.
- Prepare and analyze CAT modeling assessments to support pricing functions and data enhancement initiatives.
- Conduct data scrubbing and prepare exposure data for analysis.
- Assist in the requirements gathering and development of data scrubbing tools.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as SAS and SQL is essential.
- Familiarity with CAT modeling platforms like RMS or AIR Touchstone is required.
- Knowledge of VBA is advantageous.
- Ability to process and analyze extensive datasets effectively.
- Strong grasp of advanced mathematical, economic, and statistical concepts.
- Capability to interpret model input data and articulate outputs clearly.
- Understanding of policy terms is necessary.
- Previous experience in Property & Casualty Insurance is beneficial.
- A solid background in software development with a good understanding of Machine Learning and AI is preferred.
- Experience with technologies such as Python, Hadoop, Spark, AWS, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and Docker is a plus.
- You recognize the connection between analytics and business outcomes, focusing on long-term strategies for our team.
