Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible Cafeteria Aide to join our team at Wilton Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient atmosphere in the school cafeteria and at recess.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor student behavior and ensure proper conduct in the lunchroom and/or at playtime.
  • Ensure that all lunchroom rules and processes are adhered to by students.
  • Monitor seating for students with special needs or allergies.
  • Encourage peaceful resolution of conflicts between students.
  • Report disciplinary concerns to building administration or teacher when necessary.
  • Organize students into orderly lines for the purchase of food, disposal of wastes, and for dismissal from the cafeteria.
  • Manage the evacuation of students in case of an emergency or drill, following school safety plan guidelines.
  • Organize group games and activities as needed, or monitor individual playtime.
  • Assume responsibility for play equipment as needed.
  • Evaluate student injuries, determine the course of action, and perform emergency first aid when necessary.
  • Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to be physically active with children at all locations of the program.
  • Able to quickly and efficiently move children throughout program activities, school building, or outside areas as necessary for emergency purposes.
  • Able to communicate verbally, hear, and understand elementary-aged children.
  • Able to sit on the floor or at cafeteria tables with students.

This is an hourly position for the school calendar year.
