Position Overview:

The Wire Coil Technician plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process at Niagara Power Transformer Corp. This position involves operating specialized machinery to produce wire and sheet coils essential for transformer applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize wire-coiling machines to fabricate coils for transformers.
  • Analyze work orders and specifications to ascertain necessary materials and components.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting winding sheets, technical drawings, and sketches.
  • Operate various machinery including winding lathes, punches, brakes, slitters, and shears.
  • Prepare wire leads by cutting, stripping, and bending using appropriate hand tools.
  • Load and select materials for winding processes, ensuring efficient operation.
  • Document production and operational data accurately on designated forms.
  • Modify and trim materials such as wire and insulation using hand tools.
  • Safely remove completed components from machines with the use of overhead cranes.
  • Conduct thorough examinations and tests on components with measuring devices, documenting results.
  • Apply adhesives to electrical components and manage the baking process.
  • Utilize brazing and welding equipment as required.
  • Follow verbal instructions from supervisors and team leads effectively.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards set by the company.
  • Be flexible to work across various shifts as needed.

Physical Requirements:

This role demands certain physical capabilities, including:

  • Continuous standing and frequent walking.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs occasionally and assist with heavier loads.
  • Above-average grip and pinch strength, along with hand coordination.

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage ranging from $21 to $24.
