Assisted Living Nurse Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Assisted Living nurse to join our team at Westminster Village Inc. As an Assisted Living nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to residents according to physician orders and in conformance with recognized nursing procedures.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Assist with the administration of specialized therapy, including infusion therapy, PICC lines, respiratory, tracheostomy care, wound care, and treatments as prescribed.
  • Perform admissions, including assessments and documentation on all residents.
  • Participate in the care planning process and assist in maintaining the accuracy of care plans between scheduled reviews.
  • Collaborate with Physicians, Pharmacists, Dietitian, Therapists, Activities and Social Services, as well as families and other authorized persons and disciplines involved in the care of the resident to facilitate communication and execution of the total plan of care.
  • Observe and encourage infection control measures in accordance with facility policy as well as the rules and regulations governing infection control practices.
  • Observe and promote the facility goal of Restraint Free Environment and assist others in finding alternative measures.
  • Observe and promote the facility goal of Limited Lift Environment.
  • Protect patient confidentiality in all aspects of care and all communication of information, computer communication, telephone communication, and direct communication must be handled in strict confidence according to the laws which govern Patient Confidentiality.
  • Perform and document assessments of residents, including behavior monitoring, physical assessment, and response to specific medications, etc.
  • Assist physician in examination of resident or with treatments being performed by the physician.
  • Respond to emergency calls to the Village or Willows if needed.
  • Assist with principles and goals of Restorative Nursing by accountability in restorative procedures as indicated by the plan of care and performed by CNA's, PCA's, and Memory Care Assistants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Assisted Living or Memory Care Coordinator.
  • Familiarize oneself with location and use of firefighting equipment, alarms, and disaster procedures.
  • Attend educational meetings planned for this position.
  • Abide by all facility policies including but not limited to the Abuse Policy.
  • Assist with daily staffing in the absence of scheduler and/or Director of Assisted Living.

Requirements:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate nurse with a strong background in gerontological nursing. The ideal candidate will have a current and unencumbered license to practice in the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse. Work experience in Gerontological Nursing is strongly desired, and medical/surgical experience is acceptable. The candidate must have a working knowledge of healthcare delivery in the Geriatric, Rehabilitation, or Skilled Nursing setting. Knowledge of the aging process, pharmacology, assessment of the elderly, and practical application of clinical interventions is also required. Current CPR certification is required.
