- Patient Assessment: Conduct preoperative assessments to confirm patient readiness and review medical records for accuracy.
- Medication Administration: Assist in the preparation and administration of medications during surgery, monitoring patient responses closely.
- Surgical Assistance: Provide direct support to the surgeon by managing surgical instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure.
- Wound Management: Perform wound closure tasks as directed, including suturing and applying dressings.
- Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate, fostering a supportive and caring relationship with patients and their families.
- Team Collaboration: Maintain open communication with the perioperative team, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Current certifications in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS & PALS).
- Completion of an RN First Assistant education program.
- A minimum of two years of recent operating room experience.
- Certification in Operating Room Nursing (CNOR) is preferred.
This position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including sitting, conversing, and using hands for handling instruments. Candidates should have the ability to focus closely and adjust vision as necessary.
