Position Summary
This recruitment is aimed at filling a part-time Laboratory Assistant position for students enrolled in a Federal Work Study program. The role will support the Barbar Lab within the Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the organization and management of laboratory inventories, including physical and chemical supplies.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct basic calculations for preparing cell culture media, buffers, and solutions.
- Maintain cleanliness of laboratory surfaces and equipment, including regular operation of dishwashers and autoclaves for sterilization.
- Execute additional tasks as assigned by laboratory supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in a high school, community college, or university program.
- Must meet academic standing requirements; students on academic suspension are ineligible.
- Must adhere to minimal enrollment standards as applicable to their educational level.
Additional Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a Federal Work Study program with at least half-time status.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in laboratory settings is advantageous.
