About the Role

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at Helwig Carbon Products. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various Mazak CNC turning centers with live tooling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop programs for CNC turning centers
  • Set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring accurate and efficient production
  • Prepare tools and secure parts into machines, maintaining a safe and organized work environment
  • Install programs and correlate machine position with controls, manual cycling machines through operator sequences to check fixture and/or work positions, tooling, clearances, speeds, and feeds
  • Recognize and report errors, recording production deviations and notations necessary to produce and improve high-quality products
  • Diagnose machine malfunctions and coordinate repairs, recommending tooling applications and operational sequences to assist in developing programming for new and unusual machining requirements
  • Set up for and/or instruct Machine Operators, diagnosing operating difficulties and making adjustments as needed
  • Work from detailed, involved part drawings and/or specifications, reading and following shop instructions to operate various milling, drilling, tapping, and turning machines
  • Perform quality checks on parts produced, making frequent adjustments and recalibrations to machines to ensure safe and quality operation
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and other personnel in a cooperative, collaborative, and cost-effective manner, suggesting and assisting in implementing department and process improvements to increase overall quality and productivity
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in CNC programming and operation, with knowledge of Mazak CNC turning centers and live tooling
