Coffee Specialist
Department: Food + Beverage
Reports to: F + B Manager, Assistant Manager & Supervisor
Status: Non-Exempt
We are seeking a dedicated Coffee Specialist who will excel in crafting and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages, including specialty coffees and teas. This role involves guiding customers through our beverage offerings, providing personalized recommendations, promoting unique items, and efficiently processing orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers warmly as they arrive at the coffee station.
- Present menus and respond to inquiries regarding beverage ingredients.
- Accurately take orders while considering customer preferences (e.g., coffee blend choices, dairy options, and sweetness levels).
- Prepare beverages according to established recipes.
- Handle transactions and process payments (both cash and credit).
- Maintain cleanliness in the service area.
- Ensure a sufficient supply of clean mugs, cups, and plates.
- Monitor brewing equipment for proper functionality and report maintenance needs.
- Adhere to health and safety standards.
- Relay customer feedback to management.
- Uphold the company's core values and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Prior experience as a Barista or Server.
- Hands-on knowledge of brewing equipment operations.
- Understanding of sanitation regulations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to assess customer preferences.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- High school diploma; relevant training is advantageous.
- Previous experience in hospitality is preferred.
- Outstanding customer service abilities.
- Proficiency in using technology such as tablets and iPads.
Physical Requirements
- Capability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. or more.
- Willingness to work long hours and various shifts.
- Comfortable working in an outdoor environment.
Mental Requirements
- Ability to make sound judgments quickly.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to take direction.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
