About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Partner Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center (PVESC). As a Veterinary Surgeon, you will be responsible for providing high-quality surgical care to our patients, working closely with our emergency and specialty teams to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients with surgical diseases, including orthopedic injuries, wounds, and soft-tissue diseases or disorders
  • Collaborate with ER and other departments, including internal medicine, neurology, and oncology, to provide and receive support
  • Oversee consults, rechecks, procedures, surgeries, and transfers from other departments
  • Help develop workflows that optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of inter-departmental transfers
  • Assist in developing training programs for ER doctors seeking to improve their proficiency and confidence in performing mutually agreed upon surgical emergencies
Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of Virginia and/or Maryland
  • Board certified or residency trained in surgery
  • Ability to quickly process, analyze, and react to unplanned and emergent medical situations without delay
  • Ability to make decisions and communicate clearly and effectively with fellow team members and pet families
  • Clinical experience in emergency medicine or general practice, or completion of a rotating or specialty internship
  • Professional demeanor and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude
