Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Simpson County. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our school buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain all assigned classrooms, halls, and common areas, including vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and tools, including vacuums, mops, and buffers, to maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and repairing minor issues.
  • Assist with special events and projects, such as setup and cleanup for school functions and summer cleaning projects.
  • Report any safety or maintenance concerns to the Principal or Maintenance Director.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in custodial or maintenance work preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Work Environment

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The employee will be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, and other allergens. The employee will also be required to work in outside weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme temperatures.

Physical Demands

This position requires the employee to be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee will also be required to stand for long periods, walk, and climb stairs.
