Job Summary

As a Housekeeping Assistant at the University of Massachusetts, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our hotel guest rooms and public areas. This is a temporary, non-benefited position that requires a high level of physical stamina and endurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the overall cleaning of hotel guest rooms and public areas, including changing beds, dusting, vacuuming, and other related procedures to maintain department standards.
  • Clean guest room toilets, lavatories, and their appurtenances, and maintain the necessary supplies to ensure sanitary facilities for hotel guests.
  • Report any maintenance work necessary to maintain department standards for guest rooms to the supervisor of accommodation services.
  • Using department forms, maintain an accurate record of room inventory, lost and found, and any other notable items while cleaning a guest room.
  • Check and stock supplies from the floor supply closet as needed.
  • Remove trash and waste from assigned areas and place in designated sites to ensure clean and sanitary conditions and proper handling of recyclable materials.
  • Maintain carpeted areas by vacuuming and spot cleaning to prolong the life of the carpet and maintain a clean and attractive facility.
  • Clean glass and mirrors by washing with glass cleaning solution to provide a clean and attractive facility.
  • Maintain walls, ceilings, doors, and horizontal surfaces by dusting and washing with detergent solutions to provide a clean and attractive facility.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment commonly used in housekeeping cleaning functions.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet designated standards of cleanliness for hotel rooms.
  • Physical stamina and endurance to withstand the strain of manual labor.

Varies based on department needs.

Salary Information

$19.00 per hour.
