Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator to join our NorCal Concrete team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for planning and managing estimating activities for specific construction projects, including preparation, interpretation, and presentation of estimates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review project plans, requirements, and specifications to ensure accurate estimates
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
  • Coordinate subcontract solicitations and jobwalks to ensure timely completion
  • Determine labor and construction equipment costs to ensure competitive bids
  • Prepare conceptual estimates and meet bidding and work schedules
  • Submit requisitions for purchase of materials and compare competitive trade bids
  • Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager to ensure accuracy
  • Secure all bid documents and prepare subcontractor bid list
  • Participate in bid compilation on bid day and assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award
  • Maintain good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Supervise and train estimating staff as needed
Requirements
  • Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong experience within the Concrete Trade
  • Minimum 3 years project engineering or related experience
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
  • Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations
  • Working knowledge of construction costs and principles
  • Estimating experience, including quantity takeoffs, purchasing, and accounting
  • Drafting and computer skills
