Position Overview:
The Sanitation Supervisor at Hearthside Food Solutions plays a critical role in executing the Sanitation program, ensuring compliance with all current Food Safety Standards across the facility. This position involves training and mentoring both Sanitation and Production staff to recognize and manage Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) issues while upholding food safety protocols. Clear communication regarding sanitation matters with the Sanitation Manager, Quality Manager, and all Production and Sanitation personnel is essential.

The Sanitation Supervisor will operate within a large-scale manufacturing environment, contributing to a facility that produces a significant volume of food products annually. This state-of-the-art plant employs a diverse workforce and fosters a collaborative culture among its team members.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive Sanitation program (HACCP, Allergen control, etc.) in accordance with customer and regulatory standards.

• Supervise the cleaning and sanitation of production equipment.

• Provide training to production staff on sanitation protocols and practices.

• Address consumer complaints and guide plant teams to reduce such issues.

• Assist in formulating Sanitation procedures and related documentation.

• Cultivate strong working relationships with Quality, Production, Maintenance, Safety, and Warehouse teams.

• Collaborate with the Sanitation Team to identify sanitation or regulatory concerns within the facility.

• Ensure the facility is consistently prepared for Third Party or Customer inspections.

• Support the management of Production and Sanitation Master Sanitation Schedules.

• Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives related to facility sanitation.

• Oversee Sanitation chemical suppliers and supervise the Sanitation staff.

• Identify and rectify sanitation or environmental challenges within the facility.

• Ensure all chemicals utilized in the plant are approved and that current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are accessible.

• Conduct dilution testing for all necessary chemicals.

• Assist with pest control measures.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Sanitation Manager.

• Assume responsibilities of the Sanitation Manager during their absence.

Required Skills & Knowledge:
Knowledge of:

• Master Sanitation Plan and relevant legal requirements in the food sector, including GMPs.

• Familiarity with FDA and MDA regulations.

• Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, Allergens, and BRC standards.

• Knowledge of sanitary equipment design and operation.

• Insight into commercial bakeries and bakery equipment, including ingredient functionality and pest development risks.

Skills in:

• Proven ability to develop and sustain programs while managing conflicts with a constructive approach.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in computer applications, self-motivated, and capable of making informed business decisions.

• Exceptional motivational and interpersonal skills.

Ability to:

• Exhibit strong written and verbal communication, analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.

Proficiency in: MS Office Suite and SAP

Work Environment:

• Regular exposure to a production environment, which may include noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and temperature variations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Sanitation or a combination of education and relevant experience.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the food industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role focused on sanitation.
