Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodial Worker to join our team at Melwood Veterans Services. As a Custodial Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our employees and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweep and Mop: Sweep and mop hallways, stairs, and offices to maintain a clean and tidy environment.
  • Trash and Recycling: Empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash in a prescribed manner.
  • Dusting and Polishing: Dust horizontal surfaces, empty and wash ashtrays, and polish kick panels, doorknobs, and other designated fixtures.
  • Cleaning Bathrooms: Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and showers.
  • Floor Care: Wax and buff floors with prescribed buffers and strip and wax floors as needed.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Sweep and clear snow from outside steps and sidewalks.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain issued equipment and notify the supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks.
Physical Qualifications
  • Standing and Walking: Stand 80% of the work time and walk 15%.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment.
  • Climbing and Balancing: Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and handle to use ladders and stairs, clean low areas, high areas, benches, and corners.
  • Communication: Communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Vision and Depth Perception: See, have depth perception, and tell colors for safety reasons and to distinguish between chemicals.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Six (6) months experience preferred.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to pass security clearance process for designated contracts.
