The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a crucial role in delivering anesthesia care as part of a collaborative healthcare team under the guidance of an anesthesiologist.
This position requires the CRNA to conduct thorough and continuous patient evaluations, effectively communicate with the healthcare team, utilize resources judiciously to ensure the highest quality of care, and meticulously document all aspects of patient care in the designated records.
The CRNA is responsible for administering general and regional anesthetics, as well as Monitored Anesthesia Care during surgical and obstetric procedures, all under the medical supervision of an attending anesthesiologist.
Key responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, advising the attending anesthesiologist on appropriate anesthetic options, administration techniques, and necessary supportive measures in accordance with departmental protocols.
Additionally, the CRNA must ensure the anesthesia machine and monitoring equipment are functioning properly, verify supplies, medications, and anesthesia gases, and monitor and document the patient's vital signs and any administered medications along with their effects.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree: Nursing (Required)
- Master's Degree: Nursing (Preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of critical care nursing experience as part of the successful completion of a CRNA program (Required)
- Preferred 2 years of experience in an academic medical center or as a CRNA.
Licenses/Certifications:
- RN-LIC - PA Registered Nurse License (Required)
- CRNA - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (Required)
- BLS - Basic Life Support (Required)
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
