Job Summary

This is a full-time position in the Operating Room at Memorial Hermann Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing proficient perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation. The Surgical Technologist will function as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative and/or invasive procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation.
  • Function as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative and/or invasive procedures.
  • Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse and as outlined in the Surgical Technologist Skills Inventory.
  • Use knowledge and expertise to act as a role model and resource for other staff.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support and current Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • 2+ years of experience preferred, with hospital orthopedic OR experience preferred.
Accountabilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge and practice of perioperative patient care concepts.
  • Provide support for readiness and flow of cases to facilitate overall functioning of the unit.
  • Verify functioning and adequate availability of supplies/instruments/equipment prior to the surgical procedure.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development.
  • Support department-based goals and contribute to the success of the organization.
