Type: Contract (1 yr renewable contract)
ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at System One. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for participating in the development of new methods, evaluating quality, and providing guidance on the correct use of cytology specimens and slide interpretation.
You will work closely with Pathologists to guide product development and ensure the highest possible performance. Your expertise will also be utilized to support Quality Control (QC) method development for cytology specimens.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing analytical techniques on specimens from various sources, including cervical swabs, sputum, urine, and fine needle aspirates.
- Qualifying incoming samples for testing.
- Evaluating immunocytochemistry (ICC) biomarkers for proof of concept, feasibility, verification, and validation studies.
- Performing and evaluating cytology techniques, such as Pap staining, and providing results to scientists.
- Maintaining records as needed.
- Providing suggestions to improve work processes.
- Conducting root-cause analysis and implementing corrective action for reagent or instrument-related issues.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or a related field.
- Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited cytotechnology training program.
- 7 years of experience in cytology, including cytology techniques and methods.
- Experience in a laboratory setting.
- Gynecological experience is preferred.
