Job DescriptionThis role involves working under the guidance of the Center Manager and the management of the Center Physician for operational and medical issues.
You will be responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results.
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) follows guidelines provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center-level support for environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
- Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when needed to provide unacceptable findings to donors or guidance concerning medical or technical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER.
- Potentially serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community.
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Current licensure or certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements (in the state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactory completion of FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

This role offers an estimated hourly wage range of $31.54 - $43.37, reflecting an anticipated range based on qualifications, experience, specific skills, and certifications.
