Position Overview:

The Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for capturing x-ray images of patients as per the directives of referring medical professionals. This role involves explaining the x-ray process to patients, ensuring their safety, reviewing images for quality, and preparing necessary documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcomes patients, verifies the required imaging, and clarifies the x-ray process to them.
  • Examines patients' medical histories before conducting x-ray procedures and ensures that consent forms for contrast media are signed when necessary.
  • Executes x-ray imaging following established protocols regarding body positioning, radiation intensity, and exposure duration.
  • Processes and evaluates images to confirm they meet the radiologist's standards.
  • Maintains imaging equipment and examination areas, organizes film storage, and manages inventory of supplies.
  • Compiles patient information files that include the patient's name, date of imaging, referring physician, and number of exposures.
  • Prepares and submits reports detailing the quantity and types of x-rays performed.
  • Undertakes additional related tasks as assigned.
Work Schedule:

Some holidays and weekends may be required, with various shifts available to accommodate staffing needs.


Qualifications:
Experience:
  • N/A
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of accredited training in radiologic technology.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Radiologic Technologist License (Maryland)
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification
Additional Skills:
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential for patient interaction, along with the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software is required.
Preferred Experience:
  • At least one year of experience as a radiologic technologist is preferred, including on-the-job training and internships.
