Job Title: School Registered Nurse

Aveanna Healthcare LLC is seeking a skilled and compassionate School Registered Nurse to join our team. As a School Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing direct school nursing services to promote prevention, medical management, and academics.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatrics, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff. Responsibilities:
  • Provide school nursing services to direct service school districts
  • Assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of students
  • Interpret health and developmental status to school personnel, parents, and students
  • Serve as a health resource person in the health instruction curriculum
  • Provide parent education related to student needs
  • Participate in the development of Health Plans and attend school conferences
  • Provide care, delegate, and teach care to others under the established plan of care
  • Attend continuing education programs and participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training
  • Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting student rights and overall wellbeing
  • Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures
  • Recognize and report signs of substance abuse, physical abuse, or neglect
  • Provide a clean and safe environment within the school
  • Maintain and coordinate standards of nursing while managing a comprehensive school health program
  • Provide preventive and rehabilitative measures to promote safety and health
  • Perform treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence
  • Administer medication as per MD order and/or parental consent
  • Provide individual teaching and training with students and/or others
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and supervise services with others to promote academics and individualized student needs
  • Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures
Additional State-Specific Requirements:
  • Continuing Education as required by state
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pediatrics experience preferred

  • Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations

  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
