Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Geologist II to join our team at the Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet. As a Geologist II, you will play a critical role in overseeing and carrying out the investigation, characterization, and cleanup of contaminated sites and properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site investigations, environmental assessments, and sampling of soil, groundwater, and surface water.
  • Review site characterization and corrective action reports for releases of hazardous substances, pollutants, and contaminants.
  • Provide technical assistance to the public and other government agencies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in geology, earth system science, or a related field.
  • One year of geological experience or graduate study in geology.
  • Registration by the Board of Registration for Professional Geologists (KRS Chapter 322A) may substitute for education.
Working Conditions

This position requires work in both an office and fieldwork setting. Overnight travel statewide may be required for environmental studies and site investigations.
