About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Camp Specialist to join our team at the Greater Somerset County YMCA. As a Camp Specialist, you will be responsible for providing direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. You will create positive relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in working with children and a passion for creating engaging activities that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a variety of activities tailored to the skills and interests of each age group.
  • Lead specialty activities with assistance from camp staff and help keep camp staff focused on the activity.
  • Assist the Camp Director in carrying out themes, special events, field trips, and general camp activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized supply storage area.

Requirements

  • High school student or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting, with a minimum of two previous camp seasons.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
