About the PositionThe Department of Communication Science and Disorders is one of nine departments in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. We offer BA, MA, MS, AuD, and PhD degrees. Our department is a vibrant community with innovative research, teaching, and clinical education opportunities for faculty and students.
Responsibilities- Engage in projects that advance outcomes associated with hearing science and hearing disorders or related fields.
- Lead an extramurally funded research program in their area of research expertise and provide students with access to high-quality research training experiences.
- Leverage collaborative relationships with clinical and research collaborators within a vibrant healthcare community.
- Engage in didactic, seminar, and/or clinical teaching and mentoring of students.
- Direct student research within areas of expertise at all levels of the curriculum.
- Participate in departmental, school, university, and professional services.
A doctoral degree in Communication Science and Disorders and/or related fields with demonstrated expertise in specified subject areas. Priority will be given to candidates whose scholarship and discovery will contribute to advancing the science of hearing and hearing disorders in adults.
The successful candidate will demonstrate many of the following professional and personal qualifications:
- Evidence of collaboration and successful partnerships in hearing science, auditory neuroscience, or related areas with a focus on adult populations.
- Evidence of research and scholarship and the potential to secure extramural funding.
- Experience with pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training.
- Ability to mentor students to achieve personal, departmental, school, and university goals.
- Familiarity with and experience with diverse types of funding sources.
The Department of Communication Science and Disorders has experienced significant growth over the past four years, including hiring a new department chair, four new program directors, nine new faculty, and multiple staff positions. We have a strong reputation in our areas of expertise and are committed to promoting equity, justice, and inclusion in our department, clinical activities, research endeavors, and across the field.
We are a member of cohesive and well-organized departments and programs in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and one of the Schools of the Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh.
