At Helen Hayes Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled System and Network Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our network infrastructure.

Nature of Work

The System and Network Administrator will be responsible for managing and configuring virtual environments, enhancing remote accessibility and performance. You will deploy and maintain application deployment tools, ensuring seamless software distribution and updates. Additionally, you will monitor IT infrastructure using advanced tools, proactively addressing and resolving any issues that may arise.

You will work closely with various teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems. This will include filling oversight/management tasks related to helpdesk operations, working closely with end-user support staff to maintain call logs, track requests, resolutions, time to resolution, time spent on requests, and code classification to trend request types and user patterns.

The successful candidate will perform installation, administration, testing, and maintenance of hardware/infrastructure, including:

  • Assisting the technical group on information technology projects;
  • Collecting information needed for new hardware/software installations or modifications to existing configurations, including all necessary support;
  • Running diagnostic software to ensure that equipment operates properly and taking appropriate corrective action when required;
  • Installing and configuring hospital-standard software, ensuring that the configuration meets system requirements;
  • Ensuring repair and preventative maintenance procedures are followed for the hospital's desktops, faxes, and printers.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have five years of experience in networking and/or telecommunications, with a focus on the design, analysis, capacity planning, monitoring, performance evaluation, and/or tuning of data communications/telecommunications networks.

An alternative requirement is a bachelor's degree in any field, supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in networking and/or telecommunications, and two years of experience in networking and/or telecommunications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Five years of experience in desktop and server support in a networked environment;
  • Excellent knowledge of network architecture and terminology;
  • Experience in installing, using, maintaining, and providing customer support using workstation tools, including office automation tools, email, and remote-control software;
  • Operational knowledge of telecom systems, including Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP);
  • Two years of experience in virtual infrastructure, including Nutanix, VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V;
  • Experience in troubleshooting Linux/Unix, Windows Server, cloud, or virtualization technology;
  • Experience in performing system backup and restore;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communications; Must be able to work with both technical and non-technical personnel;
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system experience, including installing, using, maintaining, and providing user support;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Experience in supporting healthcare technologies, such as X-Ray, MRI, Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM), medical devices, Pneumatic Tubes, etc;
  • Proficient in monitoring and administration of firewalls;
