Role Overview

ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to provide 1:1 nursing care and support to a female student with complex needs in Parkrose, OR. This is a full-time position for the 2024/2025 school year, requiring a strong understanding of mental health strategies and experience handling behavioral issues.

Salary Range

The estimated annual salary for this position is $60,000 to $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

As a Nurse Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing dedicated support to a student with a tracheostomy (trach) who is ambulatory but has weak verbal communication skills. This position requires strong mental health experience, as the student has aggressive behavioral issues. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 nursing care and support to the student throughout the school day
  • Monitoring and managing the student's trach care and other medical needs
  • Utilizing strong mental health skills to manage and de-escalate aggressive behaviors
  • Collaborating with teachers, school staff, and other professionals to ensure the student's needs are met
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of care provided and any incidents

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current Oregon license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Experience working with trach care and managing medical needs in a school setting
  • A strong understanding of mental health strategies and experience handling behavioral issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
