Job Summary

The Chief Operations Officer is a key leadership position at Pender County Schools, responsible for overseeing and implementing strategic initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. This role requires a strong understanding of construction, facilities management, transportation, and child nutrition, as well as excellent analytical and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Oversee and manage facilities, maintenance, transportation, and child nutrition operations
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent and other senior leaders to develop and implement district-wide initiatives
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure effective use of district funds
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local government agencies, architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and district policies
  • Provide leadership and guidance to department staff to ensure effective execution of operational responsibilities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Extensive experience in facilities management, construction, and transportation
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license
Working Conditions
