As a Nuclear Fuels Engineering Expert, you will be responsible for performing advanced technical engineering problem-solving in support of nuclear plant operations. You will possess excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application, as well as detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.
The Nuclear Fuels & Methods Engineer is responsible for creation and validation of reactor neutronics models for PWR and BWR reactors. This includes reactor and fuel model documentation, benchmarking, and bias/uncertainty creation. In addition to models, time is dedicated to developing and maintaining processes and procedures for vendor-independent methods.
Your primary duties and accountabilities include:
- Providing in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage, and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs.
- Providing technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
- Managing engineering issues, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work, and proper configuration management.
- Applying engineering principles to perform assigned tasks and ensure standard design criteria, practices, procedures, and codes are used.
- Conducting independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of technical projects and programs.
- Recommending new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify operations, reduce costs, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least 2 years of nuclear or related engineering experience for the Mid-level E02 Engineer position.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer and at least 5 years of engineering experience for the Senior E03 Engineer position.
Prior experience with CASMO/SIMULATE, Core Design, coding/programming, or working in the Fuels Engineer IIIA Classification is highly desirable.
