Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Social Worker to join our team. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment intervention, and psycho-education to members and/or family members. You will work with a variety of treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family therapy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of psychopathology and be able to recognize the appropriate and timely clinical treatment intervention needed.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and appropriate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment intervention of members.
  • Select the appropriate treatment modality for members presenting problems.
  • Communicate clinical material effectively to members and clinical staff.
  • Provide high internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate expertise in a variety of treatment methodologies.
  • Document clinical encounters in members' charts.
  • Be knowledgeable of KP and community resources.
  • Adhere to all mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and license.
  • Maintain license.
  • Conduct initial interviews with members to elicit and interpret the psychological and social meaning of complaints.
  • Determine the urgency of members' needs.
  • Provide a professional interpretation of members' presentations and recommend a course of therapeutic action.
  • Provide treatment to adults, adolescents, and children.
  • Rend immediate guidance and therapy for members in crisis or in need of clinical services.
  • Maintain written records of therapy, prepare reports, and letters; phone, write, and visit social agencies, schools, relatives, and friends to obtain pertinent information.
  • Provide clinical consultation in an integrated healthcare environment regarding family interactions, sociocultural determinants, and community resources.
  • Provide telephone assessment, counseling, resource information, and referrals.
  • Identify and treat the span of developmental stages.
  • Use various treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Comply with organizational, departmental, state/federal guidelines, and all regulatory agency policies and procedures.
  • Participate in QM and CQI activities.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • Two (2) years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five (5) years required.

Education
  • Master's degree in a Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other field related to behavioral health required.

License, Certification, Registration
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California)

Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature required.
  • Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Two evenings required (5:00 pm - 7:00 pm).
