Magnet Medical seeks a skilled Medical Imaging Specialist to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures in Libertyville, Illinois.
Job Overview- Type: Full-time, travel position
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Hrs/Week: 40 hours
Patient Preparation and Care:
- Greet patients, explain the procedure, and ensure comfort and understanding.
- Obtain and record relevant medical history.
- Prepare patients for imaging by positioning them correctly and applying gel as needed.
- Maintain patient comfort throughout the procedure.
Diagnostic Ultrasound Examinations:
- Operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images of organs, tissues, and blood vessels.
- Position the transducer on the patient's body to obtain clear images.
- Adjust equipment settings for optimal imaging quality.
- Monitor images and make adjustments as needed.
- Conduct specialized exams if trained (vascular, cardiac, musculoskeletal).
Patient Monitoring and Support:
- Ensure patient stillness and comfort during the exam.
- Communicate any discomfort or needs to the healthcare team.
- Provide reassurance and support to anxious patients.
Image Evaluation and Documentation:
- Review images for clarity and completeness before submitting them for interpretation.
- Record patient information, exam details, and images into the electronic health record system.
- Maintain accurate and accessible patient records and documentation.
Collaboration with Medical Team:
- Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other providers to ensure accurate interpretations.
- Communicate findings with supervising physicians as necessary.
- Assist in diagnosis by monitoring development, detecting internal injuries, or evaluating organ health.
Maintenance of Equipment and Supplies:
- Maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is clean, calibrated, and ready for use.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues or alert maintenance personnel for more complex problems.
- Ensure consumables (gel, transducer covers) are stocked and replaced as needed.
Patient Education and Safety:
- Provide pre- and post-exam instructions, including follow-up care or referrals.
- Answer questions about the ultrasound process, explaining how it works and what patients can expect.
- Follow safety protocols, including infection control measures, to ensure patient safety and proper equipment use.
- Adhere to patient privacy and confidentiality standards.
Salary Information: The estimated salary for this role is $100,000 per year, based on 8-hour shifts and 40 hours per week. This amount may be subject to confirmation.
