Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Prepared Foods Cook to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our food preparation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality and presentation of our prepared foods.

Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Prepare food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets and recipes.
  • Food Quality and Presentation: Ensure that all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness, and rotated.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor food levels and replenish in a timely manner.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner, and model suggestive selling techniques.
  • Teamwork: Work effectively as part of a team, follow directions and procedures, and maintain a clean and sanitary working environment.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: 6-12 months retail experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Thorough product knowledge, ability to follow a recipe, good understanding of food production and fundamental cooking techniques, good basic math skills, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day, and work in wet and dry conditions.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with exposure to fda approved cleaning chemicals, temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and the use of tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
