We are offering a Mine Engineering Internship for the summer, aimed at individuals who are enthusiastic about sustainability, eager to learn, and ready to thrive in a performance-driven environment. This internship will provide valuable experience in the field of mining operations.

This role will take place at one of our operational sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Mine Engineering Intern within our Aggregate Construction Materials division, you will gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in production and leadership:

  • Practical Engagement: Engage directly with operational procedures, maintenance activities, and product knowledge at our aggregate facilities. You will play an active role in understanding and enhancing mechanical, maintenance, and production workflows.
  • Analytical Contributions: Gather and assess data, recognize process relationships, and assist in formulating strategies for ongoing initiatives.
  • Operational Insight: Acquire practical experience in daily mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling tasks.
  • Equipment Familiarization: Collaborate with operators to understand the maintenance and functioning of heavy mining machinery, ensuring peak performance and efficiency.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work alongside various teams such as geology, engineering, and safety to gain a comprehensive understanding of operations.
  • Safety Management: Aid in the execution and oversight of safety protocols and procedures to ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Skill Utilization: Apply a diverse range of skills and knowledge in everyday operations, working collectively to meet team and organizational objectives.
  • Presentation of Findings: At the conclusion of your internship, you will present your insights and contributions to our leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS

We seek motivated students who fulfill the following criteria:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mine Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong academic record with a solid grasp of engineering concepts.
  • Geographic flexibility to work at various operational sites.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • High energy and a proactive mindset towards new challenges.
  • A collaborative spirit, capable of working across different organizational levels.
  • Willingness to spend substantial time in the field, acquiring practical experience and firsthand knowledge of our operations.

WORK SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Work Schedule: This is an onsite position requiring a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, with an 8-hour shift each day.
  • Work Environment: You will be operating in various aggregate environments, where you may encounter moving machinery, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Transportation: Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from work locations.
  • Travel: During the internship, you may need to travel to other sites for tours, shadowing experiences, or intern-related events.
