Transportation Planner

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Planner to join our team at the City of Billings. As a key member of our Planning Division, you will play a critical role in supporting the administration of the Transportation Planning Process, managing projects related to federal planning funds, and working with various stakeholders to advance transportation planning initiatives.

• Assist in the drafting of transportation project scopes of work, contracts, and reimbursement documentation for federal planning funds.
• Manage transportation planning projects, including coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies, and diverse stakeholders.
• Provide staff support to the Planning Board, City Council, and other governing bodies, attending meetings and disseminating information as required.
• Prepare long-range planning documents, procedures, and publications, and generate maps to support transportation planning efforts.
• Participate in traffic modeling efforts, coordinate with local and state organizations on traffic model data and systems, and manage Transportation Alternative Program application submittal, review, and approval processes.

• Four-year degree with major coursework in urban or regional planning, with significant coursework in transportation planning.
• One to three years of related work experience in government or private sector planning, depending on the level of the position.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and other relevant software.
