Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Critical Care Emergency Medical Specialist to join our team at AMR. As an essential member of our emergency medical services, you will be responsible for providing critical medical care and transportation in emergency situations.

Responsibilities
  • Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action and appropriate protocol.
  • Utilize medical equipment and procedures, including defibrillators, EKG monitors, oxygen devices, IV fluids, CPR, and other procedures as required.
  • Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency during calls.
  • Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
  • Lift and move patients as needed to ensure optimum care.
  • Communicate with receiving facilities to receive medical direction and provide critical information.
  • Act as a team leader and take responsibility for scene and unit management as needed.
  • Drive ambulances and provide map-reading support to minimize call response times.
  • Maintain all required certifications and continuously update knowledge and skills.
  • Monitor and maintain the general condition of the unit, ensuring it remains clean and stocked for optimal call response.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Current state Paramedic License and ongoing currency maintenance.
  • Possession of a valid State Driver's License.
  • Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS, PEPP, BTLS, or PHTLS Provider Certification and ongoing currency maintenance.
  • Driving record in compliance with AMR Safety and Driving Policy.
  • Some past work experience in healthcare, preferably.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with extended workdays. Long periods spent inside the ambulance. Exposure to weather conditions, moderate noise levels, and poorly lit environments may occur.

Requires moderate to extended amounts of sitting, standing, and walking. Repetitive motion activities, lifting more than 200 pounds with assistance, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, carrying, typing, and stair climbing may be necessary.

Clear speech and hearing are required, as well as the ability to wear a face mask or respirator for extended periods when necessary.

Estimated Salary

$55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
