Job Summary:

Altea Healthcare is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Scientist/Engineer to join our AI team. As a key member, this person will contribute to designing, implementing, and deploying AI/ML predictive applications to improve care delivery and quality for post-acute patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full end-to-end machine learning development process, including data ingestion and preparation, feature engineering, analysis and modeling, model deployment, performance tracking, and documentation.
  • Process data of multiple types (vitals, labs, medications, medical codes, notes) and incorporate into predictive models to improve accuracy.
  • Develop evaluation processes that ensure accuracy, fairness, reproducibility, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to incorporate predictive models into the EHR system.
  • Incorporate feedback from cross-functional teams and refine the ML models through quick iteration cycles.

Requirements:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in developing, deploying, and scaling predictive algorithms in healthcare settings.
  • Strong understanding and experience using Explainable AI methods to improve interpretability of models for care providers.
  • Experience working with various health data types (time series, low-frequency labs, medications, notes, medical codes).
  • Strong experience building models using 'classical' ML algorithms (XGBoost, CatBoost, Random Forest, LightGBM) and neural network architectures (LSTM, GRU, transformers, language models).
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Good understanding of the full ML system development, deployment, and maintenance lifecycle.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality results within project timelines.
  • Experience writing production-grade code is a plus.
