Position: Phlebotomist I

Compensation: $20 to $23 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Location: Elmhurst, NY 11373

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and manage specimen centrifugation and maintenance data.
• Collect and store specimens following established protocols.
• Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.
• Demonstrate proficiency in using straight and butterfly needles.
• Thoroughly understand and execute physicians' orders.
• Ensure accuracy by matching laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as necessary.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels for correctness.
• Package specimens appropriately for transport.
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures and ensure proper labeling and handling according to transport protocols.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Participate in annual departmental training and respond to inquiries regarding laboratory results.

• Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by state regulations.
• At least 6 months of experience in performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or healthcare environment.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience.
